The Cat Welfare Society is a charity dedicated to promoting the effective and humane
management of the community (stray) cat population in Singapore.

We recognize that the presence of a large community cat population can be a source of problems, but believe that the best way of keeping the population in check is not by trapping and killing them but by sterilising them.
We work with town councils, management committees, residents of HDB and private estates, as well as government agencies, in promoting the implementation of TRAP-NEUTER-RETURN-MANAGE (TNRM) programmes. Such a programme involves a system of trapping cats for sterilisation, returning them to their colony after sterilisation and looking out for their well-being on a long-term basis. This leads to a stable population of cats in a community, in contrast to recurring cycles of trapping and killing characteristic of culling efforts.

13,000 cats are killed that way every year in Singapore. We believe funds would be better spent channeled to TNRM programmes.
